Magic
Magic was one of our first three Ragdolls. He
was not planned - he was just a stroke of pure luck - I like to think
it was fate or destiny. :)
I flew to the USA to meet Steve and Laurie Hart of Stellarhart Ragdolls
in the USA, and to pick up my first Ragdoll breeding pair. When I got
there, I was thrilled with my two kittens. Steve and Laurie offered me
a room in their home during my stay (thanks to their beautiful son for
sleeping on the couch! :o) Part of the deal was that I
would have to share the room with one very sweet, perfectly marked seal
bicolor kitten that had not yet been spoken for. Let us just say that I
did not have a chance. ; ) Thank you Steve and Laurie!
So I flew back home and my very shocked husband (this would be only the
first of many such situations to come - love you, honey! ;o)
picked me up at the airport with my *three* new Ragdoll kittens in tow.
Magic grew from a playful kitten into an awkward teenager and then into
a beautiful young male. We decided to try our hand at showing, not
having any idea what we were doing, or just what kind of cat we had on
our hands. Magic taught us a lot about Ragdolls, about showing, about
breeding. He had to endure our many first clumsy attempts at bathing
and blow-drying. ;o) He was always loving, always contained, if
not always patient. ; )
He never came home from a traditional show without a Best of the Best /
Best Overall. We decided to try TICA, and in our first show season we
attended 8 small shows, all on the European continent, and Magic became
not only the Best cat of the Europe North Region for that year, but
also the Best International Ragdoll of the year, and 20th Best Longhair
Internationally. It was the beginning of an era. :o) He went on to earn
two more Regional Wins, and then became the first Ragdoll to attain
TICA´s most prestigious title, the Lifetime Achievement award.
Magic is now going on 14 years old, long since neutered, still living
with us - still a perfect picture of health. He spends most of his time
lying in the cat tree, surveying the scene, and enjoying the weather in
the outside run. His genes live on in several of our current breeding
cats and kittens, and he is still a gorgeous example of the breed
today.
